Academics
Georgia Military College places great emphasis on helping our students become men and women of extraordinary character. To this end, constant focus is placed on the civic, physical, and academic development of our cadets. On April 15, we honored those young men and women of the 132nd Corps of Cadets who have shown outstanding merit in the area of academics.
The following Junior College Cadets were recognized for outstanding academic performance and being named to the President’s List. Each of these cadets maintained a quarterly grade point average of 3.70 or higher during the just completed academic term. They are:

Michael Vesely
The following Prep School Cadets were recognized for earning the Senior Army Instructor Academic/Leadership Award for their academic excellence:
LET 1—Kaily Calhoun
LET 2—Savannah Williams
LET 3—Geovic Jadol
LET 4—Cory Thrower
The Association of Military Colleges and Schools awards the Purple Heart Scholarship to deserving cadets who are veterans or children of veterans. The scholarship consists of a certificate, medal, and check. Cadet Timothy Friend, whose mother and father are both veterans, was honored as this year’s recipient.
Dr. Paula Payne, GMC Vice President for Institutional Research and Planning and MAJ Patty Anderson, GMC Prep School Faculty, were presented with a saber in recognition of their years of service to Georgia Military College. Both Payne and Anderson will retire this spring.
Ms. Jeannie Zipperer, GMC Assistant Professor of Political Science and Department Chair of Social and Behavior Sciences/Criminal Justice, was the guest speaker.
