Junior Beta Club
The purpose of the GMC Jr. Beta Club is to promote scholarship, leadership,
and good citizenship at GMC. Students are approved for membership because
of their worthy character, creditable achievement, and commendable attitude.
The membership of this organization is made up of students in grades 7
through 9.
Junior Beta Club Activities
Junior Betamembers sponsor service projects each year such as raising money for the
Muscular Dystrophy Association and the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Club members
also assist with various service projects in our community such as planting
flowers at the Georgia Veterans Cemetery, serving as ambassadors for the Flower
and Craft Show at Central State Hospital, planting seedlings for Baldwin
County’s Arbor Day festivities at the Georgia War Veterans Home, assisting at
Baldwin County’s Special Olympics, and helping with local elementary schools’
field day activities.
Each year Junior Beta members have an opportunity to attend the Georgia Junior Beta Convention in
Macon, Georgia. This is a two-day convention that gives our members a chance to meet
hundreds of other Junior Beta members from schools throughout Georgia and participate in activities ranging
from academic contests to quiz bowls to talent competitions. The State
Convention provides the opportunity for members to interact, share project
ideas, and showcase their academic and leadership abilities. GMC Prep students are regular participants in
various convention competitions, and two club members were recognized as state
winners in the areas of English and Photography during the 2006-2007 and
2007-2008 school years. The State Convention is a fun-filled two days that our members look forward to each year.
