CHORUS

The Department of Choral Music under the direction of Christopher Graddick is comprised of middle and high school students who seek to develop and enhance their vocal abilities. The Chorus exploratory/enrichment course seeks to introduce students to a diverse repertoire of choral music while developing proper vocal/performance techniques and gaining understanding of proper musical terms. Currently, middle school chorus is offered to eighth grade students only while and all interested high school students may participate in chorus, if their schedule permits. As the choral/vocal music program is restructured chorus will be opened to sixth and seventh grade students.

As a member of the Georgia Music Educators’ Association, chorus students are eligible to participate in District XI and state events including District Honor Choir, Solo and Ensemble Festival, Large Group Performance Evaluation and All-State Chorus Event.

Past Seventh Grade Productions include You’re A Good Man Charlie Brown, North Pole Exposure, A Cause for Mrs. Claus, and Super Claus. This spring, the Prep School will be presenting Stephen Sondheim’s Into the Woods. Past spring musicals performed by middle and high school students include Seussical, Grease, Big, and Beauty and the Beast.

SANTA GOES GREEN

It’s Christmastime at the North Pole and all are excited about the commitment they have made to make this year an environmentally-friendly holiday. Everyone that is, except the main attraction, Santa Claus. He does not understand the “green” idea and how it applies to him. The workshop comes to life through song and dance, led by Mrs. Claus, explaining to Santa why going “green” is good for everyone.

INTO THE WOODS

A childless baker and his wife cannot have a child until they follow the bidding of the witch next door to get a cow as white as milk, the cape as red as blood, the hair as yellow as corn, and the slipper as pure as gold. Good thing, then that they've got neighbors named Jack, Little Red Riding Hood, Rapunzel and Cinderella to help them before (and after) Happily Ever After.
