Georgia Military College High School and Middle School now uses Edline to keep parents and students informed. Edline works in conjunction with the administrative software SchoolMinder and the teacher gradebook software GradeQuick. Edline is a secure Internet site that is easy to navigate. Parents and students can use Edline to:

• Check students' latest grades
• Verify attendance
• Receive email alerts when new grades are posted
• Receive emails with school or class information
• View a ‘Combined Calendar’ to see all the events from the school calenda and the student's own classes and activities automatically collected and personalized
• See what homework is not turned in and read notes from the teachers
• Read daily announcements, lunch menus, school policies, and classroom news
• View team and club activities
• And much more!

With the activation of this new technology, GMC plans to move towards a paperless communication system with parents. (Such systems are already in place at many colleges and universities). Rather than sending home a paper progress report every three weeks, teachers will now send grades to Edline every Wednesday. In effect, parents are able to keep an eye on their student's progress on a weekly basis! Teachers will update homework assignments and lessons daily, and the official attendance record (from Ms. Overton's office) will be posted each Wednesday, as well. Parents of students here at GMC are welcome to use the Internet at Sibley Cone library or in the academic computer labs in Zell Miller Hall.
