All Sports Medicine programs are unique in some aspect. Often, they
reflect the unique nature of the athletic programs they provide care for.
This is true of the Sports Medicine Program at Georgia Military College.
The student athletes that attend GMC are held to a higher set of standards
than the average student athlete. This is true, not only in athletic
performance but also in conduct and academic standing. Therefore, the Sports
Medicine Program emulates these standards, not as goals, but as characteristics
of the standard of care.
The Sports Medicine Program at Georgia Military College strives to insure
the overall health and well-being of each student athlete. From a full-time
staff of Certified Athletic Trainers and Registered Nurses, to a referral
base of several doctors of various specialties, the Sports Medicine Program
at Georgia Military College places a vast array of expertise at the disposal
of each student athlete. Our relationship with local doctors, hospitals,
EMS services, clinics and universities provide a remarkable continuum of
care and a unique educational environment for future Allied Healthcare
professionals.
Sports Medicine is not just “band-aids” and “ACE bandages”. It is a constantly
changing science. It is the study of the human body and how it’s systems work,
the biomechanics of human movement and the intricate process of injury and
healing. At Georgia Military College, our Sports Medicine Program focuses on
not only prevention and care of athletic injuries, but improving the athletic
performance of all student athletes through every aspect of their athletic healthcare.
