About:

This dynamic student body organization was formed by Georgia Military College Augusta Campus students in March 2010. The team’s primary focus is to develop and increase an understanding of moral and ethical principles, increase and strengthen personal core values, and to help students become better citizens, critical thinkers, and academic achievers. Team members are dedicated to making positive change in their own lives, their school, their community, the nation, and the world – through positive discourse, tolerance and respect, good citizenship and service.

The Georgia Military College Augusta Campus Student Debate Team currently participates in the national “Ethics Bowl” debate forum sponsored by the Association for Practical and Professional Ethics (APPE) formed in 1991 by a grant from the Lilly Endowment. In an Ethics Bowl forum students study and debate up to fifteen ethical case study scenarios taken from recent state, national, or international events, incidents, or circumstances where ethical issues, dilemmas, and concerns are the primary focus.

Since formation in March 2010 the team has won the Georgia Military College 2010 Spring Ethics Bowl, the Georgia Military College 2011 Ethics Bowl, and the Georgia Military College Fall 2012 Ethics Bowl.

Looking to 2013 the team plans for more competitions and will continue to promote academic scholarship, ethical and moral understanding, tolerance and respect, camaraderie, good citizenship, and personal development. Team members are Georgia Military College “ambassadors at large,” instilling school pride and spirit wherever possible, and motivating peers to seek and achieve academic excellence!
