Phi Theta Kappa
Phi Theta Kappa is an international honor society for students in two year colleges.
Since its founding in 1918, Phi Theta Kappa has been the only national honor fraternity
for junior colleges. It serves to promote scholarship, develop character, and
cultivate fellowship. To be eligible for Phi Theta Kappa, a student shall be of
good moral character, shall possess recognized qualities of citizenship, shall participate
in the development of chapter projects, and shall have established academic
excellence as judged by the faculty sponsor in accordance with guidelines set by the
International Constitution. Membership is by invitation only.

Student Newspaper
GMC newsletter is published quarterly. It is written, produced, and published by students.
It provides opportunities for students in creative writing, reporting, interview techniques,
business and design. All student, alumni, faculty, and staff are encouraged to read and
contribute articles.

Chess Club
GMC has an informal chess club to teach the fundamentals of chess and to allow
students to test their skills against other students, faculty, and staff. Students of all
skill levels are welcome to participate.

Student Honor Council
The Honor Council is open to all students who wish to support the improvement of Ethics and
ethical conduct among the GMC student body. The council meets as needed to review honor
violations and to discuss the role and climate of ethic on campus.

History Club
The History Club is open to all students who wish to pursue a deeper knowledge of history through discussion, readings
and field trips in the local area. The club meets monthly and topics vary with the interests of the students involved.

Computer/Business Club
The purpose of the GMC Computer/Business Club is to acquaint the student with the wide scope of
computers in business and their applications to everyday life. It also delves into the career
opportunities in business. The club is open to all students.
