About This Program:

The A.A, A.S. Information Technology program will educate students so that they have a command of basic programming and web design skills, enabling them to thoughtfully participate in the decisions of the marketplace and thereby contribute to the professions, communities, and organizations to which they belong.

What You Will Learnb:

Desktop programming:

  • Students who complete this program will be able to design and develop an object-oriented program that uses the Java programming language.
  • Students who complete this program will be able to design and develop an object-oriented program that uses the Java Swing framework for its graphical user interface.
  • Students who complete this program will be able to design and develop an object-oriented program that uses the Java class library to read and write sequential text files.

Web programming:

  • Students who complete this program will be able to design and develop a website that uses Hypertext Markup Language (HTML) for its content.
  • Students who complete this program will be able to design and develop a website that uses Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) for its presentation.
  • Students who complete this program will be able to design and develop a website that uses JavaScript for its behavior.

Program Benefits:

Earning an A.A, A.S. degree in information technology will prepare students for employment opportunities and meet educational requirements for continuation towards a bachelor degree in computer science or information systems. Upon completion of this degree, graduates will be able to transfer credits to a 4-year B.A., B.S. degree program in computer science or information systems. Information technology degree majors consistently remain in the top careers with a wide variety of jobs in the computer industry.
