Academic Honors

The purpose of the Georgia Military College Academic Honors Program is to motivate students to achieve excellence in scholastic, athletic, and extra-curricular activities.

Students who have demonstrated meritorious achievement and excellence are recognized at military and academic ceremonies and functions throughout the academic year.  Such recognition may be accompanied by items such as trophies, plaques, ribbons, medals, certificates, and military sabres.

Certain academic honors are recognized at the commencement ceremony each year:

  • Graduation with honors (Summa Cum Laude, Magna Cum Laude, or Cum Laude)
  • Distinguished Graduating Student
  • Peter J. Boylan Award (In recognition of intellectual and character excellence, this award is awarded annually to a graduating student of Georgia Military College-Milledgeville Campus who exemplifies the highest levels of intellect and character.)

In addition, President's List and Dean's List recipients are recognized each term for outstanding academic performance.

Subject matter awards may also be presented to students for excellent performance in specified areas of study.
