The Georgia Military College (GMC) Library supports students and faculty by providing access to library services through its collections and arrangements with community resources consistent with the degrees offered by this two-year, liberal arts junior college. The library’s mission is to ensure that students, faculty, and staff can access and utilize current and unbiased information in order to support the curriculum and foster lifelong learning. The mission of the GMC Library is to ensure that students, faculty and staff have access to and are able to be effective users of ideas and information. To accomplish this end the GMC Library will provide current, unbiased materials on the level of its reading public, will make available to all students, faculty and staff the resources of the library, will assist in the use of these materials, will provide access to materials not located in the library and will provide opportunities designed to foster lifelong learning.
GMC Library facilities include the 14,000 square foot main Sibley-Cone Library at the Milledgeville campus and five branch libraries located at the Distant Learning Centers (DLC's). The five DLC branch libraries provide internet access to all online library resources and are staffed by paraprofessionals who assist students, faculty, and staff with the use of library resources.
The GMC Library's total full-text collection available for research and support includes more than 70,000 titles. The print collection in the Sibley-Cone Library contains over 31,000 volumes. The full-text, electronic books available online to GMC students, faculty, and staff add an additional 39,000 academic titles. The periodical collection includes over 25,000 titles of journals, magazines and newspapers principally in online databases.
